Winner of Theme Song
Contest
(Sung to
Notre Dame Fight Song)
by Janet Plantin
The Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club's a
blast
Proud to hang our burgee on mast
We sail, we race, we power boat
We work to keep our boats a float
We love to party, splash and have fun
The Fairfield Yacht Club is number one
We know this is where we belong
Singing the yacht club song.

Runner up to Contest
Sung to the Army Caisson Song
by Pegge Doyle
Over Neuse, Over Trent
No matter where we went
The Yacht Club was sailing along
Okracoke, Cape Lookout
There never was a doubt
That the Yacht Club was sailing along
For it’s Hi I EEE the splash begins at three
We gather wherever we may roam
But where ere we go
Our Mariners always know
Fairfield Harbour is always our home. |

Sailors on the Neuse
To the tune of Battle Hymn
of the Republic
By Olwen Jarvis
Our eyes have seen the glory of the
sailors on the Neuse,
Start those faithful engines, Let the billowing sails fly loose,
Pack food and drink and nibbles, and be ready for a splash,
As we cruise on down the Neuse.
Chorus:
Sail Oh Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club,
Sail Oh Fairfield Harbour yacht Club’
Sail Oh Fairfield Harbour yacht Club,
We’re the Sailors on the Neuse!
Wind and waves and even rain and
storms we do not fear,
‘Cos we simply drop the anchor and then break out the beer,
We’ll rock and roll and raise a glass, sing songs of lusty cheer,
As we cruise on down the Neuse.
Chorus
Smaller boats, the Ensigns, love to
race around the marks,
They never even hesitate, even when its getting dark,
You’ll hear a yell of “Starboard” as they bravely round those marks,
Then they head back for the line.
Chorus
Power boats they lead us, making
waves as they go by,
Heading off to Ocracoke they really seem to fly,
Use one-six to hail us, switch and answer on seven eight,
And just be sure my friends, you have a good day Mate!
Chorus.
Our Commodore, the Bridge and
Board, and every member too,
We love to get together when the busy day is through,
Splashes are important, to be with friends is fun,
And now my song is done! |
FHYC Theme Song
Sung to Waltzing Matilda
By Pegge Doyle
Cruising with Fairfield, Cruising with Fairfield
We’ll go a’cruising with Fairfield today
We will eat, we will drink
sometimes even run aground
While we’re cruising with Fairfield today.
We will cruise for a day,
And maybe even for a month
Still we’ll be cruising with Fairfield today.
To the north, to the south,
To Okracoke or Cape Lookout,
We’ll go cruising with Fairfield today.
We teach and we meet,
We even party quite a bit
As we go cruising with Fairfield today
Check us out on the web.
Or read it in the Semaphore,
But come a’cruising with Fairfield today
The winds may be right,
But the water isn’t high enough,
Then we’ll be motoring with Fairfield that day.
Cruising with Fairfield,
Cruising with Fairfield,
We’ll go a’cruising with Fairfield, today.

FHYC Alma Mater
by Pegge Doyle
Sung the "Whiffenpoof Song"From the tables at the Shoreline,
To the docks at Northwest Creek,
To the boats and sails and lines we love
so well.
Sing the Fairfield crew assembled
With their glasses raised on high
And the magic of their singing cast a
spell.
We're poor little mariners who are on
our way,
Cruise, Cruise, Cruise
We're captains and first mates who were
cast away
Cruise, Cruise, Cruise.
Gentleman sailors off on the sea,
Going from the Neuse to marker three
Lord, have mercy on such as we,
Cruise, Cruise, Cruise.

To the tune of :
Sailing,
Sailing, Over the Bounding Main
By Carol
Luitkus
Fairfield Harbour's a
wonderful
place to be
The Yacht Club's great, the friends - first rate
Such ca-ma-ra-der-i.e..
Sailing, racing, power
boating too
(the tune
goes up here)
We have such fun in rain or sun
All Hail the white & blue.
Cruising, cruising, we sometimes run aground
The anchor slips, the dinghy tips
But laughter does abound.
The
splash is scheduled
Bring
your goodies there
(the tune goes up again)
It is five o'clock tonite,
but
it's always
Five o'clock somewhere! |
