Marina at Grand Dunes

Report by Mark West

All of the remaining Southern Cruisers were reunited today at Grand Dunes Marina in Myrtle Beach. The Teuberts and the Wests, who had arrived at Grand Dunes yesterday, spent the morning walking the beach followed by lunch and shopping at Tanger Mall. Cameo, which had spent the night at anchor, arrived at Grand Dunes by 1000 hours. Up the Crick, Tara, Aqua Base and Maturity Rules had spent the night a Georgetown Landing. They were all safely tied up at Grand Dunes by 1400. Grand Dunes Marina was able to put all of the Southern Cruisers on a single dock. (See photo attached.)  A splash at 1700 gave everyone an opportunity to catch up on their experiences of the past five days.

Cameo will leave the group tomorrow and begin the trip back to Fairfield Harbour. The crews of the remaining boats—hoping that the predicted rain will pass quickly—plan to spend one last day exploring Myrtle Beach. All will depart on Friday, although only three boats—Bernan, Up the Crick and Water Music—currently plan to complete the original itinerary. The other boats will expedite their return to Fairfield Harbour to meet other summer commitments.

Can you pick out the boat that doesn't belong to the Fairfield Fleet?
