Charleston City Marina

Report from Karen

Well no one told those of us going to Charleston that all the women on Memorial weekend trips had to wear a bikini and lounge on deck..  Most of us were too busy swatting flies to worry about our attire.  Walt and Karen won the coveted dead fly award.

We managed to see many dolphins and a few gators along the way.  When Charleston came into view so did all the pleasure boaters zipping around with the whole family on board.  All safely arrived at Charleston City Marina and were greeted by Paul who got up at the crack of dawn to start the day.  The mega boats are in but it seems us FHYC'ers will be sharing the marina with the crew of these yachts rather than the owners.  The City Marina “squeezed” us all in, and Glenn gave a special prize to Walt for his joystick maneuvers into a tight corner berth.  We set out tomorrow for the sights and sounds of the Charleston Spoleto/Piccolo Festival.

PS

Bill Davidson claims that his computer will read the chip in his camera.  He promised to come and take some pictures for the website.    So check back, we'll add pictures when we get them.

Report from Janet (from Wilmington)

The Northern contingent is doing okay.   Jim called Ken to let him know he had arrived safely into Swan Point Marina, located in Sneads Ferry.   To Jim's surprise, the marina was having a customer appreciation day and Anne and Jim were treated to a free barbeque.

Ken and Janet enjoyed the day in Wilmington.   They just wish the other Southern Cruisers were here.
