Casper's Marina

Report from Mark -

It was an easy run today for Bernan, Up tha Crick and Water Music. The trawlers left Harbour Village at 0800 in order to make the 0900 bridge opening at Surf City. The faster Up tha Crick delayed its departure so that  all of the boats would reach Casper's at slack water, making for easier docking. By 1345 all three boats had arrived. Nancy Teubert and Barbara West browsed Swansboro's shops during the afternoon.

The evening's splash was an expanded affair when FHYC members Delle and Sam Curry, Mary and Jim Florence, Patty and Eirk Jensen, and Rosie Woods, all of whom had been on a bus tour of the coast, dropped in. They joined the Southern Cruisers for dinner afterwards at the Ice House Restaurant.

Report from Bernie -

June 3  cool morning and pleasant day - As we passed Little River Air Force base without warning, we were startled with bombing hitting about a 1/4 mile inland. The blast vibration caused our boat to shudder as if we hit a rock.  Then we saw the smoke and keep going. About 5 blasts.  SCARY.

Report from Landlubber Sam Curry -

Seven scouts from the land cruiser department, Curry's, Florences, Jensens, and Rosie Wood Went to Beaufort
and Swansboro on Tues, June 2 to hassle the southern Cruisers.  We spotted Tara docking at Beaufort and assisted with the lines.  Then went over to Swansboro to greet the Teuberts, Wests, and Terrills. The land cruisers outnumbered the water cruisers by 7 - 6 but we drank and ate with them anyway.  After the 5 o'clock splash we
all trekked over to the Icehouse for a delectable dinner.  It was a long ride home including an uneventful roadblock by the state militia....
