We haven't mentioned gas
prices yet. So far the most expensive has been at the Colonial Beach at $2.99 and the most inexpensive has been at Alligator River Marina at $2.29 Certainly a lot better than last year when we were paying well over $4.00 a gallon. |

George points to his old homestead, Mt. Vernon
which we passed while cruising up the Potomac
All six boats -

Oh what a beautiful morning!
Sky was Carolina blue, clouds were billowy, and best of all the Albemarle
was smooth as glass. We didn't know the Albemarle ever looked like
this! Annie Girl and Marlyn left Elizabeth City about 8 AM and had a most enjoyable ride across the sound. We arrived at Alligator Oasis before noon, leading a passel of about 9 boats into the marina, almost all of us wanting diesel fuel. Miss Wanda was not present, and it was. a rather chaotic landing. We were happy to welcome fellow FHYC members Dave & Cheryl Stevenson when they pulled in mid afternoon. In true yacht club spirit, we invited all the boaters to join us for a 5:00 splash; there were about 30 of us enjoying the festivity. |
