The marina offers protected,

from the porch of the ship’s store or unwind
with a stroll across the footbridge over wild marshland where you may

a family of river otters at play. Amenities include a newly renovated

pickin’s, crab cooks, oyster roasts, kegs of beer and much more are
available for pre- planned parties. Many other yacht clubs count it as a
popular destination.
RESTAURANTS, ATTRACTIONS:
There are no restaurants or
shopping within walking distance but the marina offers a free courtesy
van; just put in the gas. Belhaven has several restaurants; we went to
the Helmsman and had a great time, good food. Others include the Main
Street Café, Belhaven Hotel and the Fish Shack. Did food shopping at
the Food Lion. Don’t miss the Museum.

Pungo River contact Dowry Creek Marina. You are about 3 miles away. They
will give you specific instructions into the marina.
INTERIM STOPS:
A fine anchorage in Bonner Bay, just
after turning up the Bay River and across from the entrance to Goose
Creek. Deep water without too much traffic.
CHARTS:
11552, 11553
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
We found it rainy in late August 2002
but had great fun in the clubhouse playing dominos, etc and eating. Our
first dinner was in Belhaven, second was steaks bought at Food Lion and
cooked on the grill then third was crab from a local crabber who stopped
at the docks. Nine boats joined in the cruise. |
